What is a Content Management System (CMS)?
|
| |
A Content Management System or CMS is a software tool that simplifies and automates, the process of authoring, editing and maintaining the content of a Website. Set-up and configuration of the Website and CMS still needs to be done by a web developer. However ongoing content updating, ownership and maintenance can be devolved out to the non web-expert personnel within an organisation that are best qualified to deal with it. This can have significant benefits in terms of reducing the cost of ownership of online services, as everyday Web maintenance tasks do not have to be outsourced to third parties such as an external Web developer.
